Eat More Weigh Less Diet
There are a few diets with the title "Eat More and Weigh Less", so this is the diet by Dr Dean Ornish.
The Eat More Weigh Less Diet is similar to Pritiken, in that it is low-fat, with an emphasis on lots of low-fat vegetables. You can have lots of legumes, fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Moderate amounts of non-fat dairy and other fat-free products. And should try to avoid meat, chicken, fish, oils, avocados, nuts, seeds, sugars, alcohol.
The theory is that "Eating fat makes you fat". So the Dean Ornish Diet avoids all fats and animal products, including meat, poultry and seafood. With a maximum fat allowance of 10%.
The Eat More Weigh Less diet is quite a strict diet, and has the risk of not providing adequate nutrients such as iron, calcium, vitamins and essential fatty acids.
Most followers do tend to lose weight, and benefit in blood cholesterol, and blood pressure measurements.
The Dean Ornish diet does recommend vitamin supplements, which would be wise given the reductions in protein and essential fatty acids from good fats.
