A new beginning

I finished rebuilding the site today. And started this health and fitness blog.

Moved all the pages across from the old site, and put them into Drupal, a content management system. The main reason for rebuilding the site, was that Drupal has so many nice features automatically built in, like blogs and forums.  It took a while - time that I could and should have spent doing something energetic. I spend way too much time lying on my bed with my laptop on my knees. It's really not healthy.

I'll be turning 45 later this year. When I was a kid, 45 was definitely middle-aged. It brought to mind fuddy-duddy grandmas, with big tummies, waddling down the street in tent dresses.

I don't feel middle aged. I feel like I'm still around 27, with so many things I want to do. In many ways, life has begun at 40 - I'm (relatively) fit, happy, and looking forwards to the next 40 years being full of fun (and love).

But it is a constant struggle to stay fit.

In IT, you spend so much time sitting down in front of a computer. And when you're not working, there's a lot of reading (online) to catch up with.

It's also hard to know if there are physical limits you're supposed to stay within, or whether the sky is still the limit.

Can I learn to do the splits at 44?

Is it possible to lose the wobbly bits around the waist at 44?

I've purchased a few online exercise guides that promise to get me fit, and trim the flab below the waist.

In this blog,  I'll share my experiences and adventures in womens health and fitness.

I hope you'll join in, join a forum, comment on posts, and have fun getting healthy and fit with me.

cheers

Chris
